Astonished by kudos

Letters

Editor: I was aghast to read your editorial "Kudos to the Unitarians." (Bulletin, Nov. 23) The Unitarian Church removed the Hebrew song "Bashanah Haba'ah," whose verses, from first to last, burn with longing for peace, from its service. Compounding this anti-Semitic snub, it provided on Oct. 11 the so-called Jews for a Just Peace with an arena to vilify Israel, at a time when the Jewish state is beleaguered by the most murderous terrorism ever seen. My letter of protest to the editor of the Unitarian Church's newsletter was neither published nor acknowledged. What Rev. Backus and his acolytes deserve is anything but kudos and mazal tovs: they have destroyed the decades of goodwill that bound the Unitarian Church to the Jewish community and should bow their heads in shame.
