{"id":44729,"date":"2024-07-12T01:34:16","date_gmt":"2024-07-12T08:34:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jewishindependent.ca\/?p=44729"},"modified":"2024-07-10T10:50:44","modified_gmt":"2024-07-10T17:50:44","slug":"team-canada-wins-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jewishindependent.ca\/index.php\/2024\/07\/12\/team-canada-wins-cup\/","title":{"rendered":"Team Canada wins cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>Team Canada and Team Israel at Softball City July 3 to compete for the Canada Cup International Softball Championship, Women\u2019s division. <\/i><i>(photo by Cynthia Ramsay)<\/i><\/p>\n<p>The Canada Cup International Softball Championship, Women\u2019s division, took place June 28-July 7, with Team Canada winning the competition in a game against TC Colorado (7-0) on the last day of the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>This year, 12 women\u2019s teams competed for the cup: Saskatchewan 222s, TC Colorado, Team Australia, Team Canada, Team Chinese Taipei, Team Czechia, Team Greece, Team Hong Kong, Team Israel, Team Mexico, Team New Zealand and Team Philippines.<\/p>\n<p>Team Canada and Team Israel played each other July 3 at Softball City, and attendees cheered on both teams, despite the presence of anti-Israel protesters outside the stadium. While Team Israel scored the first two runs of the game, Team Canada went on to win 10-3.
