(photo by Cindi Wicklund)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ballet BC will share five new commissions as well as beloved audience favourites in its 2022\/23 season. From emerging, locally based voices to renowned choreographers with deep connections to the company, and from intimate creations to large-scale ensemble works, there is much to explore.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The season opens Nov. 3-5 with <em>Overture\/s<\/em>, featuring a world premi\u00e8re from Dutch sibling duo Imre and Marne van Opstal, co-produced by Finland\u2019s Tero Saarinen Company, the return of <em>Bedroom Folk<\/em> from Israeli choreographers Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar, and<em> Silent Tides<\/em>, a work by Ballet BC artistic director Medhi Walerski.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The season continues with <em>Horizon\/s<\/em> March 16-18. Vancouver-based Shay Kuebler and Czech choreographer\u00a0Ji\u0159\u00ed Pokorn\u00fd will each share a world premi\u00e8re, new works exploring dichotomies within the human body and mind. Israel\u2019s Adi Salant \u2013 former co-artistic director of the Batsheva Dance Company \u2013 will be back to share <em>WHICH\/ONE<\/em>, originally commissioned for Ballet BC in 2019. Salant\u2019s work is anchored by a deep sense of presence, navigating between explosive physicality and delicate scarcity. Set to musical excerpts from\u00a0<em>A Chorus Line<\/em>,\u00a0in addition to an original soundscape, the piece highlights the entire company and explores contrasting themes of human performance and mundanity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The final program of the season, <em>Wave\/s<\/em>, runs May 11-13. It features two world premi\u00e8res from two of today\u2019s top visionaries in contemporary dance.
