Turner has made a parody of her own Chanukah song, in an effort to get Adam Sandler\u2019s attention.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On Nov. 3, local singer-songwriter Haley K. Turner is releasing what might be the only original Chanukah song set for release this year, and one of only a few in the last 25 years. Inspired by a recent plea from Adam Sandler for \u201csomeone out there\u201d to write a new Chanukah song, Turner did just that.<\/p>\n<p>In the tradition of nostalgic, sentimental classics such as \u201cHave Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,\u201d \u201cIntangible Things (A Hanukkah Song)\u201d features a string orchestra with lyrics that were completed early this year, on the very last snow day of last winter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jewishindependent.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/oct-22-music.22.Haley-Turner-songs-INSET-Album-Cover_Parody.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-37629\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jewishindependent.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/oct-22-music.22.Haley-Turner-songs-INSET-Album-Cover_Parody.jpg\" alt=\"image - CD cover of Intangible Things parody\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jewishindependent.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/oct-22-music.22.Haley-Turner-songs-INSET-Album-Cover_Parody.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.jewishindependent.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/oct-22-music.22.Haley-Turner-songs-INSET-Album-Cover_Parody-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Since Sandler asked for the song, Turner decided he should know about it. In an attempt to garner his support, she wrestled an alligator in a <em>Happy Gilmore<\/em> parody video, which can be seen on YouTube; created a tutorial on \u201cHow to Get in Touch with Adam Sandler\u201d; and recorded a parody of her own new song, \u201cIntangible Things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The videos showcase Turner\u2019s spirited side, one that may not have been recognizable from the vulnerable storytelling displayed on her debut LP <em>in from the dark<\/em>, which was released early 2020. It was recorded at Monarch Studios with Juno-nominated producer and musician Tom Dobrzanski (Said the Whale, the Zolas).
