This year\u2019s slate includes Toronto Jewish community member Max Shoham\u2019s animated film <em>Sophie and Jacob<\/em>, based on the true story of his great-grandparents, who find love while fleeing Nazi-occupied Romania in 1939. Shoham is a graduate of Etobicoke School of the Arts, where he majored in film, and is currently at\u00a0Concordia University studying film animation.<\/p>\n<p>The Future of Film Showcase takes place July 9 to 22, with films available to stream for free on the CBC Gem streaming service.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>\u2013 Courtesy Future of Film Showcase<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A still from Max Shoham\u2019s animated film Sophie and Jacob.
