Support is out there

Letters

Editor: We read Pat Johnson's letter to the Vancouver Sun Nov. 8, where he reminds us of the horror of Kristallnacht, the creeping anti-Semitism in Canada and worldwide and the Israeli fight for peace and survival.

He explains that Jews around the world feel isolated and vilified by the tenor of criticism aimed at the state of Israel. We know this to be mostly true.

However, there are some of us who do care. We thought we would offer Jews everywhere and Israel our moral support. We abhor the murder of innocent civilians in Israel and the growing anti-Semitism in the world. We pray for peace in Israel.

We are not Jewish. I am Irish-Canadian and have lived mostly in Africa and my wife is third generation Canadian of Scottish ancestry. We have read the history of the Jewish people and the Second World War and are horrified that it may repeat itself. The loss of Israel would be the end of the civilized world. It must not happen.
