Make your own peace dove
LANA LAGOONCA
Pesach is soon upon us! In honor of the holiday, Curly Orli and I have prepared a new tutorial for you. This time, we will make one of the most popular symbols of Judaism – a dove of peace, carrying an olive branch. This Plasticine dove may become a decoration for your home during the holidays. You may also create a beautiful holiday card by taking a photograph of your dove on a colorful background. Let’s get to work!
1. For this art project, we recommend that you use white Plasticine or Play-Doh. Prepare a few pieces for the dove’s head, body, wings and tail. Put all the pieces together.
2. Create feathers on the tail with a toothpick.
3. To imitate a dove’s wings, cut large stripes of Plasticine with a toothpick (above) and attach it to the body (below).
4. Take a small amount of pink and black Plasticine. Make eyes, a beak and feet.
5. Now you just have to make an olive branch. Using green and brown Plasticine, make a branch and add some olives and leaves. Your dove of peace is ready!
On our website, curlyorli.com, you will find another tutorial for Passover. In that lesson, we make Plasticine matzah. Also, there are many other wonderful free online lessons in the Tutorials section.
Create together with us, and send photographs of your creation to [email protected] for a chance to win the book Curly Orli Goes to Vancouver, or Curly Orli Lotto Game. Our books are sold in Vancouver at Buchan’s Kerrisdale Stationery. You may also purchase it online through Amazon or Etsy.
Happy Pesach to all the readers of the Jewish Independent! Wishing you all peace and happiness at Passover and throughout the year.
