Israel must defend itself

Letters

Editor: In the popular movie from several years ago Independence Day, the president of the United States asks an alien, part of an attacking force who was captured, "What can we humans do for you so that you will not attack the earth?" The answer from the alien was "Die."

That is the situation in which Israel now finds itself. Hamas will not accept Israel's existence. Hamas will terrorize and murder Israeli men, women and children until Israel is no more, and Hamas has said so openly. Like the American response in the movie Independence Day, there is only one way to deal with this – Israel must defend itself and its citizens with all its might. If and when Hamas and other terrorist groups decide to accept Israel's existence, peace will be reached easily.
