Oppose Bill C-250

Letters

Editor: In your editorial of Jan. 3, "Bible not hate literature," you maintain that Bill C-250 is not a threat to religious freedom and that conservative Christian groups are ludicrous in stating otherwise. Considering what the Torah says about homosexual activity and that Israel is to be a light unto the other nations, we would do well to join ranks with those opposing Bill C-250.

You also suggest that those opposed to Bill C-250 are mistaken not to trust the people who make up our justice system, and yet their historical record provides every reason not to trust them and their interpretations. These are the people who read sexual orientation into the Charter of Rights where it clearly does not exist. These are the same people who recently ruled that the Surrey School Board must not honor parents' objections to having homosexual activists' propaganda provided to children in kindergarden and grades 1 and 2, because these enlightened justices maintained that the parents' objections were based on religious morality.

These are only a few examples of why we cannot and must not entrust our religious freedom to the people who make up our justice system.

Bill C-250 is about granting special and additional privileges to a group based on their preferred lifestyle, because they are already protected as all Canadians under the existing Criminal Code, and I respectfully submit that we need to start being a light unto the nations by opposing this serious threat.
